“Chain 3” Does Not Make A Good Double Crochet Stitch
There is a group on Ravelry of folk who are making the Babette afghan. One of the complaints about the squares is that, after you end a round by joining with a slip stitch, you have to chain 3 to begin the next round. That chain, which substitutes for one double crochet, is very obvious and takes away from the overall look of the squares.
Hypercycloid’s Creative Double-Crochet Stitch to the Rescue
A Babette group member, Hypercycloid, created a video illustrating how to eliminate that unsightly chain. I wanted to share it with you because I think it’s … like … the best thing since sliced bread. Let me know what you think.

Hey Barb! Thanks for stopping by. I need to subscribe to your blog. You are always doing interesting things.
As for the video, I realize that method appears to only works when you are changing colors. I tried it with a piece I’m working on where I’m not changing colors, and I couldn’t get it to work. Maybe I need to watch the video again.
Great video! I’m new to your blog and can’t wait to look around.
Welcome, Marti! Glad you found me. I hope to be posting a little more regularly. And I’m still in the process of restoring photos that got removed we I migrated this blog from Typepad. So if you don’t see any, that’s why. Looking forward to seeing more of you!
