If you haven’t read it yet, check out my eBook, How to Create Crochet Patterns – A Step-by-Step Guide.
I decided to write it because I figured there are a lot of crocheters out there who have started designing their own stuff and could use a step-by-step guide on how to put together patterns for their designs. I did my best to include as much information as possible on how I do it so that you can duplicate my process.
I’m thinking about following it up with an eBook on how to self-publish a pattern. I’ve only used Lulu (see updates below) so far, but there are other services out there that people can use, including, I just found out recently, Etsy. Ravelry is also an option, but I’m getting ahead of myself. I’d like to do some additional research so that I can compare the services. It may take a while, but that’s a writing goal I’ve set for myself.
Update 4-30-12
I let Lulu go as a publishing platform earlier this year. The pattern was on Ravelry for a while, but now you can find it in the Amazon Kindle Store.
Update 12-16-16
You can now find a PDF version of this pattern on Craftsy.

Nice tutorial with some good ideas! Thanks.
Thanks, Barb!
Thank you for this post! I’m actually crocheting more, so this is a big help. I want to make some tops for myself this summer.
Hope all’s well and I want to come over soon!
Sahara! How are you? So glad you found my new blog at WordPress. It’s still a work in progress; the move from Typepad wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. In any event, glad to hear you are crocheting and glad to help in any way I can. Take care, and let me know when you’re coming for a visit.
P.S. Sorry it took so long to respond. I’ve been busing doing a lot of writing and have neglected the blog for a bit. Hope to get back to updating it and posting more soon.
